Generator Schematics

When installing generators, solar panels, wind generators, and batteries, there are a number of parts to consider. These two schematic drawings are exerpts from the XANTREX SW Plus installation manuals from back in 2003. Needless to say, some of these items have been upgraded, and newer models, with battery efficiencies, and more options exist. This series of drawings is for educational purposes only, as the schematics are not obsolete.

Single Inverter Schematic with Solar, Wind, and Generator. (120v & 240v)
This drawing shows how to install solar panel arrays, wind generators, batteries, and a generator to a single 120v inverter, and then run 240v loads via an autotransformer.


Dual Inverter Schematic with Solar, Wind, and Generator. (120v & 240v)
This drawing shows how to install solar panel arrays, wind generators, batteries, and a generator to a pair of 120 volt inverters, in phase, creating a 240v system. This installation wll run 240v loads without an autotransformer.


The trick to creating dual phase AC circuits is either communication between inverters (in a two inverter installation), or adequate auto transformers to create the amperage for your loads. Depending on your 240 volt 2 phase needs, we determine which way to go. Basically, if you use more than 10 amps of 240 volt routinely, we feel the economics dictate a dual inverter installation.
